2020 has been a weird year to say the least. The only real upside has been the ability to get out and shoot more trains, especially unique trains. I never thought that I would see a New Hampshire Northcoast Geep pulling a commuter rail train, but here we are. Due to PTC implementation, this engine needed the upgrade in order to pull trains into the city to Boston Sand & Gravel. The engine was put on a commuter set and run on the Eastern route to test the new equipment. The train is seen passing through the industrial sections of Everett and Chelsea, 12-29-20.

  • It is rather unusual to see a locomotive on the inbound side of an MBTA commuter rail train. Due to the forecast today, several sets had engines on each end to deal with snow. Train 1306 is seen at Montvale Ave on the old Boston & Maine New Hampshire Route, 12-17-20.

  • The MassDOT/MBTA Rail Extra is seen crossing through the middle of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge. The track that the train is on is known as the "Grand Junction" and is the connecting track for both the MBTA and Amtrak between the north and south side, 6-10-20.
