  • Canadian Pacific train 142 is seen approaching Greenville Junction slowing down for a MOW crew. The Bangor & Aroostook once interchanged with the Canadian Pacific at this location. The Montreal to Brownville Junction train is on the final leg of its tri. Once arriving in Brownville the train will switch out its cars and return West as train 251 with a fresh crew, 12-29-21.
  • Canadian Pacific train 142 is seen crossing the East Outlet of Moosehead Lake on a dreary late December afternoon. The Quebec to Brownville Junction mixed freight made a stop in Jackman to change Canadian to American crews and also to swap out some international containers before proceeding East, 12-29-21.
  • Canadian Pacific train 142 is seen rounding Parlin Stream Curve at Long Pond, Maine. The Montreal, Quebec to Brownville Junction, Maine freight, and Westbound counterpart 251 run roughly five times a week, 12-29-21.

  • Amtrak 145, painted for the 40th anniversary of Amtrak in 2011 is seen standing by on protect duty in Portland, 11-4-21.
  • The New Hampshire Northcoast crew is seen taking the empty hoppers back to the pit in Ossipee on the old Boston & Maine Conway Branch. The train is crossing from Lebanon, Maine back into Milton, New Hampshire. The trackage on the Maine side of the Salmon Falls River is brief, 8-6-21.
  • Amtrak Downeaster 684 is seen at Scarborough, 5-18-21.
  • Eastbound Amtrak Downeaster 681 is seen crossing the salt marsh in Scarborough with a non-powered cab/baggage unit bringing up the markers, 5-18-21.
  • A failed attempt at the OCS this particular morning did yield two freights and two Amtrak Downeaster's in decent light. The problem however was that not a single freight locomotive on either train had been painted in the Pan Am blue. So here I present a great scene with an ugly train. Portland to Ayer road freight POAY is seen crossing the Scarborough salt marsh just South (railroad West) of Rigby Yard, 5-18-21.

  • Pan Am Portland to Ayer road freight POAY is seen passing the former Boston & Maine 1906 depot at Wells Beach. The train has a matching set of all blue power with 7523, 619, 7518, 3-29-21

  • Canadian Pacific 250 is seen coasting through Greenville, Maine along Moosehead Lake with Central Maine & Quebec power including the Bangor & Aroostook heritage unit. CP bought the Central Maine & Quebec last year but due to a power shortage, some of the CMQ “barns” have been regularly seen on the Montreal to Brownville train. Ironically this line was originally Canadian Pacific before being sold 20 years ago. Likewise, the SD40-2F locomotives were built for the CP in 1988. They were purchased by the CMQ in 2015. Greenville is a popular place during Winter as it is nestled at the Southern edge of Moosehead Lake. Snowmobile riders and ice fisherman are frequent sights. In the background, snowmobile races are being held on the frozen lake, 2-20-21.

Ironically, both the line and the locomotives used to belong to CP. The Bangor & Aroostook heritage unit is in charge today as a system power shortage has been forcing CP to put the classic engines in service, 2-20-21.
