Yesterday the Surface Transportation Board approved the CSX acquisition of Pan Am Railways. The days of blue dips and ugly patched trash are numbered before yellow and blue Bongas rule the old B&M. Time allowed for me to shoot a spot that I haven’t in the past this morning at the B&M yard at the “Bleachery” in Lowell, 4-15-21.

  • The Pan Am Railways East Deerfield Wreck Train is seen being brought back to East Deerfield and is about to cross Livingston Street in Tewksbury along a small dead-end industrial street known as "Boxcar Boulevard." The train is using the symbol PO-3 for this part of the run based on the crew assigned. The American Brownhoist crane is of Boston & Maine lineage and will hopefully be preserved somewhere after the CSX takeover, 5-8-22.

  • Pan Am road freight POAY is seen passing through Andover, approaching CPF-Vale with a nice matching set of power, 4-28-22.
  • After the crew reported a catastrophic failure with possibly a cracked engine block, the lead unit of train POAY was shut down at State Line. The crew then continued West with the other two units online. Given the circumstances of the pending sale, it is quite possible this engine will end up on the deadline. The train is seen at CPF-297 in Tewksbury, 4-20-22.
