Peabody, MA - 3rd Alarm, 4 Cottage Street, 1-15-06
Around 7:15 PM Peabody firefighters responded to a fire at 4 Cottage Street. Companies reported heavy fire conditions on all floors of a 2.5 story woodframe house. Second and Third Alarms were struck, and all companies were ordered out of the building. An additional engine and ladder were called to the fire above the third alarm. High winds contributed to the intensity of the fire, and brands severely threatened exposure 2. The windchill factor was below zero, and firefighters battling the fire became covered in ice. The fire was placed under control around 10:30. The volunteer District 5 Rehab Unit also responded to the scene, and provided much needed services for the ice covered firefighters. In addition the Massachusetts State Police Fire Investigation Unit was special called to the scene.
