Winthrop, MA - 2nd Alarm, 25 Pearl Ave, 5-4-05
A 2-alarm fire in Winthrop, Massachusetts claimed the life of a 27-year-old female on May 4th, 2005. Around 5:40 PM Winthrop Fire responded to numerous calls for a house fire at 25 Pearl Avenue. Companies reported heavy smoke showing from a distance, and got reports of people trapped in the building. Engine Company 1 was first to arrive, and immediately ordered the second alarm to be struck. The fire is still under investigation, but is believed to have been purposely set by the occupant that perished. In addition, the woman's father was injured and taken to a hospital. Winthrop firefighters were assisted by crews from Massport, Revere, and Boston.
