Revere, MA - 3rd Alarm, 708 Washington Ave, 1-19-05

Shortly before 6:00 AM, on January 19th, 2005 Revere Massachusetts firefighters responded to a fire at 708 Washington Ave. Heavy smoke could be seen from a distance as first alarm companies responded to the scene. The deputy chief in charge of the shift ordered a second alarm while still responding to the fire. Firefighters were met with heavy fire conditions in the building, and through the roof. They made an attack, but soon found that conditions inside the building were too dangerous, and master streams were put into place. When the chief of department arrived on scene, he ordered a third alarm. The fire was in a 2 1/2 woodframe residential structure. Single digit temperatures made the job for firefighters very difficult. Ice covered the firefighters, streets, and ladders. Revere firefighters were assisted by firefighters from Boston, Chelsea, Everett, Malden, Massport, and Winthrop. Fire stations were covered by companies from Lynn, Medford, and Saugus.
