Chelsea, MA - 4th Alarm, 18 Everett Ave, 8-21-04
Around 5:15 AM on Saturday, August 21st, 2004 Chelsea MA 911 Center recieved a call for smoke in the area of Kayem foods, near Everett Ave. The source of the smoke was a building fire at 18 Everett Ave, and Box 214 was struck. First due companies had heavy fire in the basement of a one story "taxpayer". Second and Third Alarms were struck. The fire extended from the basement, up to the first floor. The flames were very stubborn, and crews had a hard time putting them out. Cellar pipes were brought in, and the fire was darkened down. However, it was still smoldering in the basement, and Hi-Expansion Foam was used to finally extinguish the fire. A Somerville Deputy Chief fell through the floor, but luckily he was not injured.
